Bretterbude Workshop — Maker space for craft-driven experimentation, working across wood, tools, and materials.

ABOUT PIXELS AND SAWDUST

By day, Micha's deep in UX and UI, helping brands get their digital act together. Over the past years, that's meant building design systems and digital platforms – untangling messy interfaces, setting standards, and getting design and code to actually talk to each other.

Off the clock, he trades pixels for sawdust and disappears into his basement workshop – where random ideas turn into real things. One-off builds, prototypes, DIY experiments, giving old stuff a second life… there's no fixed plan, just whatever's stuck in his head that week. Two very different worlds, one way of thinking – figure out the structure, then see what it can actually hold.

CURIOSITY OVER PLANNING

The workshop runs on curiosity more than planning. Some weeks it's about getting a single joint exactly right, others about pushing a machine well past what the manual says it should do. Wood is the constant, but rarely the only material in play – metal, leftover hardware, whatever's lying around usually finds its way in eventually. It's less about finishing fast and more about understanding how something actually goes together, then building it properly.

BACKED BY THE RIGHT GEAR

Brand ambassador for Mr Beam Lasers, Shaper Tools, and Tools Today – good tools make the crazy ideas possible (and slightly less dangerous). Testing gear from these partners, and plenty of others along the way, has quietly become part of the process too – another way of finding out what actually holds up once the sawdust settles.

BOOMBOX PLAYLIST

No workshop runs without a soundtrack. The boombox in the corner has seen more sawdust than sunlight, and whatever's playing usually says more about the mood of a build than any progress photo could – some days it's focus music for close, careful cuts, other days it's just loud enough to drown out a machine that's fighting back. Equal parts questionable and essential. Hit play and build along.
